About Priya Desai

Priya Desai is a speech and language therapist who works with children and young people. She has many years of experience working in schools both within the NHS and within different independent settings.

Priya is a dedicated and conscientious therapist, who believes in teaching children in a child centred, exciting, holistic and creative way. It is through the many unique and wonderful children that she has worked with, that she has been inspired to write children’s stories, such as Benjamin Writer-Messy, a story about a boy who has difficulties with handwriting and Jake Monkey-Tail, an enchanting story about a monkey who cannot spell.

Priya’s stories incorporate her experience and knowledge of key, developmental school skills when working with young children. Benjamin and Jake will inspire children and they will naturally be able to relate to them. The message behind each book is, “it is ok”. It is ok if a child finds a particular skill, such as handwriting or spelling challenging. There are always methods and solutions to overcome any difficulty. Within each story, each character is so unique and wonderful, just in the same way that each child is so unique and wonderful. Priya hopes that you enjoy Benjamin Writer-Messy and Jake Monkey-Tail, and all the unique characters that will follow.
